Antique 1850s Bovine Bone Handle Corkscrew with Easer and Horsehair Dusting Brush

$289.00

Antique 1850s Bovine Bone Handle Corkscrew with Easer and Horsehair Dusting Brush
Wonderful Bovine Bone Handle from the mid-1800s Corkscrew, a true collector's piece.

*The ornate handle is made of bovine (cow) bone, and the brush is fine horsehair.

*The Easer is the round button just above the worm (corkscrew). This was designed to help remove the cork by twisting it to release its grip on the neck of the bottle.

*The Dusting Brush, in the 1800s, you would have ventured down to the dirt root cellar to choose a bottle from the rack using the dusting brush to clean the dust and dirt off the bottle before opening.

*The Worn (corkscrew is designed with a flute (a small groove in the backside of the worm), which allows air to enter the bottle. This allows the vacuum in the bottle to be released, allowing the cork to be removed with ease.

Circa: 1850s
Measures: 5¾” tall, 5” wide at handle.
