Antique 1850s Bovine Bone Handle Corkscrew with Easer and Horsehair Dusting Brush
Wonderful Bovine Bone Handle from the mid-1800s Corkscrew, a true collector's piece.
*The ornate handle is made of English bovine (cow) bone, and the brush is fine horsehair.
*The Easer is the round button just above the worm (corkscrew). This was designed to help remove the cork by twisting it to release its grip on the bottle neck.
*The Dusting Brush, in the 1800s, you would have ventured down to the dirt root cellar to choose a bottle from the rack using the dusting brush to clean the dust and dirt off the bottle before opening.
*The Worn (corkscrew) is a full wire helix design.
Circa: 1850s
Measures: 6¼” tall, 4½” wide at handle.
Condition: the finish is worn from age and use.
