Antique 1900, Walter Baker Chocolate Wood Shipping Crate.
Wonderful find: this early-1900s wood shipping crate for the Walter Baker Company of Dorchester, Mass. The Walter Baker Company was the first chocolate company in America, founded in 1780.
The crate was used for transporting 12 1-pound packages of chocolate. The box is constructed of wood with dovetail corners (no lid)
The box has writing on all four sides, as shown in the pictures.
This will make a wonderful addition to your kitchen décor.

History
The Baker Chocolate Company was founded in 1780 and headquartered in Dorchester, Massachusetts. It was the first company to produce chocolate in the country. Following the deaths of its founders and businessmen, the company was sold to the Forbes Syndicate in 1896, which carried on the business until it was sold to Postum Cereal in 1927.

Measures: 10¾” x 7½” x 7¼” high
Condition: clean condition, original finish, no stains or clear coat added.
