Antique 1905, Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine, Treadle Foot Pump Machine.
Wonderful find: this antique arch-top sewing machine, made by the Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company, New York, N.Y. Willcox and Gibbs started manufacturing sewing machines in the late 1850s. This design machine was produced as a Hand Crack Machine, or a Treadle Foot Pump Machine, and an Electric Machine. This is a single-thread machine that produces a chain stitch.
This is the machine only. We have lightly cleaned and serviced this machine; it sews wonderfully. There are a couple of YouTube videos showing how to thread your Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine.
Serial number A547955: This machine was manufactured approximately in 1905.
History, Willcox & Gibbs was one of the first companies to produce a portable electric sewing machine in the United States.

Marked, Willcox, and Gibbs.
Measures: 10 ½” x 6” x 9” tall.
Condition: chrome and paint wear from use.
