Antique 1870s Hand Crank Doorbell / Door Chime
Wonderful find: this antique brass hand-crank door chime, made by P & F Corbin of New Britain, Connecticut.
The bell is designed to be attached to your front door, with the bell on the inside and the crank on the outside.
The bell and crank handle are made of brass, and the back plate and inner workings of the bell are cast steel.
The face of the bell is marked Corbins Bell New Britain, and the back of the bell plate is marked PATd June 4, 1872.
The bell chimes five times for every revolution of the handle.
Condition, fabulous for being 150 years old. Chime springs are strong, and the sound is wonderful. Mounting screws not included.
Circa: 1870s
Measures: bell is 4¾” in diameter, back plate is 5” in diameter. Can be used on a door up to 2” thick.
