Antique Mancur Spring Balance Scale 300 lbs.
Wonderful find, this German Mancur spring balance scale made by the H. Boker Company of Solingen, Germany. These were used for rough weighing on farms and in kitchens. The scale reads from both sides of the brass gauge. One side measures up to 35lbs for lighter loads using the small ring & hook, the other side measures up to 300 lbs. using the larger ring & hook.
Invented in the late 1700s, this type of scale was used in Europe and the United States in the 19th century.
This is also known as a buffalo or fur trapper's scale due to its ability to weigh large amounts and be small enough for travel.
Circa: 1800s
Marked: Germany
Measures: 10” long total length.
Condition: the Brass gauge has damage.
