Antique 1900 Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine,
This is one of the first portable electric sewing machines produced in the United States, made by the Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company in New York, N.Y. Willcox and Gibbs began manufacturing sewing machines in the late 1850s. This Model #64 was produced as a hand-crank machine, a treadle foot-pump machine, and an Electric Machine. This is a single-thread machine that produces a chain stitch.
We have cleaned and serviced this machine; it runs exceptionally smoothly.
Serial number A686220; this machine was made in approximately the year 1900. Making it 126 years old.
Runs remarkably smoothly, producing a perfect chain stitch.
Circa, 1900
Measures: 16” long, 6” wide, 10” tall. Total weight of machine and pedal: 28 pounds.
Condition: runs very smoothly; the electrical cords and plugs show age. The foot pedal has been modified; the press foot is not original; the base is original. The machine does not have cushion feet on the base.
