Crockett, Cowboy Spurs
Wonderful find, this pair of Oscar Crockett Western Spurs, new old stock. These are chrome-plated steel spurs, and they are both marked (Crockett) on the outside heel band below the strap button. The heel bands have about a 2¾” spread, with a 1¾” shank, carrying a 1¼” diameter with a five-point star Rowel. These are Bull riding spurs with offset shanks.
They have never been worn and come in the original store display package from Denver, Colorado.
From the estate of William R. "Slim" McNaught (1934–2025), a revered ranch hand, leather artisan, saddle maker, cowboy poet, and musician based in New Underwood, South Dakota.
History,
One of the better-known names when it comes to antique and vintage western spurs. The Oscar Crockett Spurs have been around since the 1920s, when they started in Kansas City. Oscar passed away in 1949. Oscar’s wife, Hazel, continued to operate the company until 1951, when she sold it to James Renalde, who branded the spurs (CR) Crockett-Renalde. The company finally closed in the 1980s.
