Antique 1920s Hercules Dynamite Wood Shipping Crate
Wonderful find: this 1920s Hercules Extra L.F. 40%, Dynamite crate. Extra L.F. 40% is a vintage brand of dynamite manufactured by the Hercules Powder Company.
(L.F.) Stands for Low Freezing, meaning the dynamite was treated to resist freezing at normal cold temperatures (regular old dynamite froze easily and became extremely dangerous and unstable when frozen).
(40%) Indicates the weight strength of the explosive, meaning it had an energy output equivalent to a straight nitroglycerin dynamite containing 40% active nitroglycerin.
Measures, Outside 18½” x 13¼” x 7½” tall. Inside 16½”x 12½” x 7” deep.
Great for LP album storage.
