1860s Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine
This is a very rare machine. The Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company in New York, N.Y., produced it around 1866. This hand-crank machine produces a chain-stitch thread pattern. Has serial number #2318 on the front of the base and on the bottom of the sewing plate.
The machine is as found and was only lubricated and lightly cleaned for testing; it sews amazingly and could use a thorough cleaning. The wooden base and porcelain crank handle are original.
Circa, 1860-1890
Marked: 2318 only.
Measures: base 13” x 8¼”; overall height 11”.
Condition: as shown. The chrome plating is discolored and missing in areas.
Please see all the pictures, as they are part of the description.
