1940s Western Spurs by Oscar Crockett, Cowboy Spurs
Wonderful find: this pair of Oscar Crockett cowboy spurs. These are heavy-duty Bronc spurs. The spurs are both marked (Crockett) and have scroll etching on the outer Head Band and Shank. The traditional Rowel is a 1¾” diameter five-point star with rounded tips, and the heel band has about a 3-inch spread.
Spurs have a silver-plated outer strap button and a matching button attaching the rowel; the outer bands have two concho-style buttons.
History,
One of the better-known names when it comes to antique and vintage western spurs. Oscar Crockett Spurs have been around since the 1920s, starting in Kansas City; Oscar passed away in 1949. Oscar’s wife, Hazel, continued to operate the company until 1951, when she sold it to James Renalde, who branded the spurs (CR) Crockett-Renalde; the company finally closed in the 1980s.
Circa: 1940
Condition: very nice condition as shown in pictures; lightly cleaned. Normal wear from use. The Straps are old and worn.
