Antique August Buermann OK Spurs
Wonderful find: this pair of (OK) Spurs made by August Buermann in the late 1800s. These handmade spurs were designed as a low-budget option and sold to the everyday, hard-working cowboy.
These have a large 1-3/8”- 16-point sunburst rowel, with a 1-1/4” shank, and the heel band/yoke has about a 3” spread.
History,
August Buermann Manufacturing Co. (1866-1926). August Buermann had a son, August Jr., who succeeded him in running the business when he retired in 1896. August Jr. sold the company in 1926; North and Judd, a large, established hardware company, purchased the Buermann name and designs. The infamous Star Brand on the Buermann boot spur was no more, replaced by the North and Judd anchor mark.
This is a wonderful article about the OK Spurs
