Antique 1890 August Buermann Spurs
Wonderful find: these antique California-style western spurs. The set is attributed to August Buermann and is unmarked. The spurs have the traditional Buermann drop shank with a 1¾” ten-point rowel. They also have heel chains.
They have a 3-1/4" spread on the band, a 2" drop shank with a chap guard, and a 1-3/4" ten-point rowel.
History,
August Buermann Manufacturing Co. (1866-1926). August Buermann had a son, August Jr., who succeeded him in running the business when he retired in 1896. August Jr. sold the company in 1926; North and Judd, a large, established hardware company, purchased the Buermann name and designs. The infamous Star Brand on the Buermann boot spur was no more, replaced by the North and Judd anchor mark.
Circa: 1880-1900
Condition: Spurs have patina; leather straps are old and worn.
