Antique 1903 Willcox and Gibbs Hand Crank Sewing Machine.
Wonderful find: this antique arch-top sewing machine, made by the Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company in New York, N.Y., Model #64, Serial number A547955. This machine was manufactured in approximately 1903.
Willcox and Gibbs began manufacturing sewing machines in the late 1850s.
This design machine was produced as a hand-crank machine, a treadle foot-pump machine, and an Electric version. It uses a single thread to produce a chain-stitch sewing pattern.
We have lightly cleaned and serviced this machine; it sews wonderfully.
History: Willcox & Gibbs was one of the first companies to produce a portable electric sewing machine in the United States.
Circa, 1903
Marked Willcox and Gibbs.
Measures: at base 12¾” x 8¼” x 10½” tall.
Condition: As shown, paint is worn in areas; rubber cushion feet on the base are very worn.
