We have for sale a Vintage Mid-Sized Corkscrew with Bakelite / Catalin Handle
This is a nice little handy corkscrew What makes this little corkscrew a great find is its handle, the Yellow-Green handle made of Bakelite / Catalin.
Era; 1930-40s
Measures; 2 7/8” long
Marked; None
Condition is good, light scuffs, some plating loss on metal.
History;
Bakelite was made from 1907-27, Catalin: 1928-1940s. Bakelite only comes in dark colors, usually black or dark brown. Catalin can come in a wide variety of color colors, including bright colors and marbling. Bakelite is opaque, while Catalin is often translucent. If the item is brightly colored jewelry or other items, it is more than probably Catalin.
