Just a wonderful find this fun Silver-Plated Barware spoon has lots to offer.
Designed and patented by Alfred J. Flauder and made by the Weidlich Brothers silver co., Bridgeport, CT USA.
As you look at the mans face one side is smiling and the other has a frown his big gaping mouth is a cap lifter and his big top hat is a 2oz jigger pull the head off the body to reveal a hidden corkscrew. This is a very heavy well-made piece.
This is a very sought-after collector piece, don’t hesitate.
Era; 1932 Prohibition Era
Marked; W.B. MFG Co., Patented 8-16-32 & 905 on back of spoon handle.
Measures; lever 9.625” long and weighs 10oz
Condition; very good for age, has some plating lose, tarnished - natural patina.

History;
On August 16, 1932 US Design Patent No. 87,567 for "Design for a Bottle Opener" was issued to Alfred J. Flauder and assigned to Weidlich Brothers. Weidlich marketed the combination cocktail spoon, corkscrew, bottle opener (cap lifter), and drinking cup under the name "Jolly Good Mixer". It was produced in silver plate, nickel plate, and bronze plate. The head is cast on to the bottle opener, giving the appearance of a big mouth.
