Thank you for viewing our Store,

We have for sale an Antique 19th Century English Henshall Style Corkscrew with Stag Antler Handle and Button Easer
Lovely example of a mid to late 1800s corkscrew with ornate shank with button easer and stag horn antler handle. The handle is made from a section of an English Stag Horn Deer, the nickel-plated shank has an ornate design followed by a 1.25” button easer and fluted wire helix worm (corkscrew).

The button easer was an addition to corkscrews in the 1800s as the worm is inserted into the cork and the button touches the cork it spins the cork breaking it free from the bottle and which allows the cork to pull from the bottle much easier.

The Fluted worn is a groove cut long the outer edge of the worm which allows air to enter the bottle once the worm pierces its way through the cork which releasing the pressure in the bottle allowing the cork to pull easier.
