Thank you for viewing our Store,

We have for sale a Charming Vintage Singer 221-1 portable featherweight sewing machine and carrying case. Serial # AH993741. The machine badge was issued on December 9, 1948 and was manufactured in Elizabethsport, NJ, USA. It has an original 110-volt motor and beautiful chrome trim. The machine and attachments are in very good vintage condition. We’ve had several machines in the last few years and this one purrs. The case is in good vintage condition showing wear consistent with age and use.

This is a very nice machine finished in that classic deep gorgeous shiny black featherweight paint, gold decals and chrome trim that shows minimal wear. The carrying case is also in very nice condition with original hardware, handle. Please see all photos as they are part of the item’s description.

A nice little trio of extras to go with this machine are 2 pamphlets and a Sewing Course Coupon book. The pamphlets were complimentary charts issued by the selling shop: one is for slipcover and curtain measurements and the other for individualized measurements to guide making your clothes. The coupon book is completely intact with 10 unredeemed coupons for ‘Home Dressmaking or Home Decoration’.

We have cleaned, oiled and greased the machine. After cleaning greasing and oiling the machine we properly test the machine to make sure it runs and operates as intended. We have also replaced the original power cord with a new UL listed cord.

Our shipping charge includes meticulous packing to ensure no damage occurs during transit. Every shipment we have done has arrived undamaged even as far away as Alaska.

The I. M. Singer and Company began making sewing machines in 1851. In 1933, the company debuted the ‘featherweight’ machine at the Chicago World’s Fair. During WWII, the company’s factories were retooled to support war related machinery needs. In 1945, when they changed back to manufacturing sewing machines, the featherweight was their most popular and reliable brand. The Singer featherweight has long been a cherished machine for quilting and sewing due to its precise sewing capability and easy portability.
