Thank you for viewing our Store,

We have for sale an Antique Humason and Beckley Style Corkscrew with Foil Cutter and Dusting Brush.
Wonderful late 1800s corkscrew made by H & B Mfg. (Humason and Beckley) of New Britain, Connecticut. The design of the corkscrew is elegant but simple with a strong handle made of walnut with turned accents at the ends. The blade is a foil cutter with silver collar and the horsehair brush is to brush away dust from the bottle, the bladed worm (corkscrew) is a very sharp and designed to cut quickly through the cork.

History:
H & B MF’G Co. (Humason & Beckley Manufacturing), a producer of cutlery and hardware, operating in New Britain, Connecticut from 1853 to 1912. One of Humason and Beckley trademarks was the CASTSTEEL name.

*Dusting Brush was usually made from horsehair. In the 1800s you would have ventured down to the dirt root cellar to choose a bottle from the rack using the dusting brush to clean the dust and dirt off the bottle before opening.

Circa; 1870-80s
Measures; 5 ¾” tall, 6 ¾” wide at handle.
Marked; unmarked
Condition; Very nice with minor wear. Appears to be original horsehair, minor dings in wood.
