We have for sale an Antique 1888 James Heeley's A1 Double Lever Corkscrew
This is a patented version of James Heeley’s 1888 A1 Double Lever Corkscrew.
Patented in 1888 by James Heeley of Birmingham England his corkscrew manufacturing business became one of the most productive producers worldwide. The Heeley family started doing business at the turn of the century 1800 last know record of the family corkscrew business was in the 1940s

This corkscrew is made of steel and was finished in a bronze-washed plating it will make the most amazing conversation piece at your wine bar as you explain it is nearly 130 years old and made in England. It is one of the first designs of a double lever (two handle design) corkscrew and is in full working condition, the worm (corkscrew) is called a wire helix because it is fashioned from one piece of twisted wire.

Measures, 6 ½” tall, 11” wide with arms open
Condition, Very good for age, nice straight worm, some of the bronze-washed finish remaining

Note,
The Bronze-washed plating was a very common type of plating in England during the latter part of the 1800s this corkscrew still shows a good portion of the plating left which is very unusual find normally the plating is gone.
