We have for sale an Antique 1880s James Heeley’s A1 Double Lever Corkscrew
Wonderful nickel-plated version of James Heeley’s 1888 A1 Double Lever Corkscrew. This Heeley corkscrew has a bladed worm (corkscrew) which is an exceedingly rare find, approximately 90% of these corkscrews were manufactured with twisted wire helix. Marked, James Heeley’s Double Lever, A1, Buss & Sons Manchester. This would have been an advertisement corkscrew from the 1880s for Buss & Sons Manchester. Buss & Sons was a retailor in Manchester England who sold high-end cutlery and serving utensils.
It will make the most amazing conversation piece at your wine bar as you explain it is nearly 130 years old and made in England. It is one of the first designs of a double lever (two handle design) corkscrew and is in full working condition.

Measures, 6 ½” tall, 11” wide with arms open
Condition, good for age, nice straight worm, only some of the nickel-plating finish is remaining.
Patented in 1888 by James Heeley of Birmingham England his corkscrew manufacturing business became one of the most productive producers worldwide. The Heeley family started doing business at the turn of the century 1800 last know record of the family corkscrew business was in the 1940s
