Antique 1800s English Corkscrew, Wine Bottle Opener
Lovely mid to latter 1800s English Corkscrew. This corkscrew has many wonderful features.
The shaft is made of brass with a serrated end known as a (Dog Tooth Easer) this twisted the cork in the neck of the bottle releasing the seal making the cork much easier to pull.
The Rosewood Handle has a hanging loop attached to the top end of the shaft and it also has a Horsehair Dusting Brush at the end of the handle. The dusting brush was intended to brush off dust from the label and cork before opening the bottle.
The handle does have a stress crack which has been there for many many years. The handle is strong and solid, and the crack has no effect of the use of the screw it does add character and age to this lovely piece.

Cira, 1850-1890
Measures, 5 ½” long, 5 ½” wide at handle including brush.
Condition, very nice condition for age, Rose wood handle does have stress crack but is still very solid and strong.
Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
