Antique 1800s Apothecary Cork Press, Apothecary Tool, Sleeping Dog

Sorry, this item has sold.

Thank you for viewing our Store,

We have for sale an Antique 1880 Cast Iron Apothecary Cork Press.
Wonderful find this rare late 1800s Apothecary cork press. The press is made of cast iron, it has a sleeping hunting dog on the handle base and foliage on the lower base of the press. The press has four different sizing’s for corks ¼” to ¾” diameter.

Cork Presses were used throughout the 1800s and early 1900s you would have found them in Pharmacy’s and Drug stores across America.
You lift the handle and place a wet cork into the press by pushing the handle down the cork would compress to the size bottle you needed it to fit.

This press still has some of its original black & green paint (worn but original) it can easily be repainted if desired. Will make a wonderful addition to your apothecary collection or as a gift.

** This cork press was featured in the Wine Antiques and Collectibles book published in 2013, page 82. This is the’ actual press that is pictured in the book.
