Antique Georgian Period Picnic Style Corkscrew, Wine Bottle Opener.
This is known as a Picnic Corkscrew; they were developed around 1800. It is a sheathed corkscrew with a hole at the top of the screw. The sheath unscrews and is placed into the hole forming a T-handle. This style corkscrew is still widely used in the 21st century.
This corkscrew is made of steel with a steel sheath. Most likely French made between 1800 and 1830s.
